Although the school day officially ends at 15.45, pupils may stay every evening until 17.45 to enjoy activities such as sports, drama and cookery. These club nights conducted by the teachers or by specialists in the activity are not only popular forms of relaxation for the students but are another aspect of care which is appreciated by working parents.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is firmly established at the school and most Year 11 pupils leave with their Bronze Award.

Concerts including music and drama productions, in which all pupils are encouraged to take part, always play to "packed houses".
